Description:
I have a new opening in Iowa. I am looking for an Electrical Engineer (Software) from a consumer product background that is proficient in ``C/C++`` and able to use compliers and debuggers. This is for a new Technology Center (Design Team) near Ames Iowa. JOB SUMMARY Design & Development responsibility for preliminary design, final design, qualification, and production launch of assigned projects related to fabric care programs including software algorithms. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee design of new and redesigned software, to improve quality, function, performance and reliability while maintaining cost, manufacturability, and agency compliance. Develop or update software specifications based on project requirements. Design, develop and test algorithms (software) for clothes washer and dryer controls Provide design specifications to lead and coordinate supplier development programs and test qualifications of the software. Work with outside groups to develop specifications and software to meet the requirements of the assigned projects. Manage agency approvals of software through UL, CSA, and/or other appropriate agencies Coordinate and support efforts required through the Model Shop, Test & Evaluation Lab, Reliability testing, Consumer Science, and other Fabric Care departments/groups. Including hands-on assistance with setting up and performing the qualification tests. Assist in the development and approval of test and quality plans for assigned software project. Analyze and approve test results to ensure they meet the requirements of the project, manufacturing processes and assembly. Prepare and maintain project schedules. Prepare and present project reviews as required. Prepare and direct preparation of Engineering documentation (BOM`s, ECN`s, DVR`s etc) Analyze cost of engineering programs for budgetary analysis. Coordinate and support purchasing, marketing, and other groups to define/refine costs in support of project objectives Oversee disposition of PPAPs International and domestic travel required as needed.
Additional Information:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRMENTS BS degree in Computer, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent education from a fully accredited school. 2 years design experience preferred but not required will consider applicants based on education and/or other experience Experience with embedded software development, software testing, software revision control, white and black box analysis, and failure analysis. Software programming experience in C/C++ and assembly Experience with Microcontrollers, particularly ST and Freescale Knowledge of washer and dryer test procedures and agency experience with: UL / AHAM / IEC / CSA / DOE would be a plus Competent with basic tools and instruments such as oscilloscope, multi-meter, data logger, etc… Ability to prioritize and plan effectively. Foreign languages are a plus
