Susan Dunphy, CEO

Life Science, Industrial Automation, Medical Device, Test & Measurement, Print Identification & all areas of Grapevine.

Susan founded Grapevine, LLC in 2000 and is the current CEO. Susan has provided highly successful executive searches for Fortune 100, 200 and 500 organizations as well as prestigious organizations across the United States. Prior to launching Grapevine, she was the owner of AllStaff Medical, LLC, a healthcare staffing agency in the Midwest which was later acquired by Rehab Care in 1999. Before moving to the Midwest, Susan owned an HR Consulting Firm in California. She started her professional career as a Medical Software Trainer.

Her diverse background has allowed her to extend into multiple industries becoming a trusted advisor and business partner. Working with large global matrix organizations has allowed her to gain deep knowledge of lean principles and world-class business systems.

As the heart and soul of Grapevine, Susan has established and grown long-lasting relationships with top executives across the nation and globe. She values each and every client. Through repeated business, it is evident that clients find her to be a trusted adviser and a strong HR partner. The passion that Susan has is contagious, leading her team by example. Amber Greene, Corporate Account Manager

Recruiting Specialties; Human Resource, Purchasing, Sales

Amber has over 15 years’ experience in the customer service industry. Pulling from her own industry experience and her educational background, Amber specializes in organizational leadership. She strongly believes in using a systematic approach to employee training and development. Hiring top talent with these attributes is her focus.

Amber’s background aligns well with positions that require exceptional attention to detail. She is a client-focused individual who tirelessly works to find a candidate that matches the top 5 requirements and the top 5 qualities that the client identifies on their candidate wish list.

Amber leads her team to successfully place candidates in a variety of industry spaces with a focus on positions in human resources, finance, purchasing/procurement, and sales.


Sandy Thorsbakken, Corporate Account Manager

Material Handling & Manufacturing

Having over 10 years’ experience in human resources, Sandy is an accomplished Corporate Account Manager for Grapevine's manufacturing and material handling clients. She is able to quickly accredit herself when speaking with candidates in these industries as her prior HR career allowed for her to work for large manufacturing and transportation/logistics organizations. During this time, Sandy worked in unionized organizations and gained her DDI certificate as a facilitator of leadership and workforce development.

Sandy’s career and passion coincide with positions that fall within the manufacturing and material handling industry space. With her vast experience in managing HR teams and working with a diverse population of employees, Sandy thrives in filling HR positions within any industry space.

Sandy handles a plethora of positions with a primary focus on HR, plant managers, supervisors, project manager, product managers, sales, and marketing. Her strong accountability and leadership skills keep her team on track to exceed all client’s KPIs when filling open job requisitions.


Beth Knutstrom, Corporate Account Manager

With approximately 10 years’ experience working in executive level positions, Beth is well-versed in understanding the needs of an organization and the risk that is associated with the hiring process. Beth uses her experience in executive leadership to breakdown a candidate’s specialized skillset, finding their genuine strengths and weaknesses. She specializes in finding the “unicorn” candidate that meets specific job requirements and fit into the unique culture of an organization.

Beth’s background provides her with a strong knowledge base of the necessity of succession planning. Her education paired with experiences in education, government, administration, global consulting, and manufacturing, Beth is an excellent choice to assist companies acquire top talent.

Beth works cross-functionally with her team to fill a variety of positions within organizations that have an emphasis in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as their core industry space.

Jesse Frey, Senior Recuriter

Information Technology, Computer Science

Having joined Grapevine in 2008 as the IT recruiting lead, Jesse quickly advanced into a Senior Recruiter role by using his extensive background and in-depth knowledge of the IT field. He specializes in successfully filling IT positions ranging from engineers to senior management levels. Jesse specializes in network architecture/engineering, IoT solutions, SaaS, mobile applications and Cloud solutions. Jesse enjoys IT project management, embedded systems, and robotic solutions.

Jesse leads the Information Technology and Computer Science segments of Grapevine’s industry portfolio. With Jesse’s vast working knowledge and background in information technology, only the best-of-the-best talent will be considered in candidate submissions.


Tori Mateer, Recruiter

Tori joined our team after graduating from Iowa State University in 2016. She specializes in food and beverage companies, recruiting for all disciplines of manufacturing. One of Tori’s fame to claim is introducing great talent to rural companies, or bringing rural talent to large matrix organizations. Interesting facts about Tori; she is a high school volleyball coach and truly enjoys competing, coaching and teaching how to WIN.


Omo Clement, Ph.D

Life Science & Diagnostics Specialist

15+ years in Life Science and Diagnostics marketing experience.

As a high-level marketing professional, Clement has a history of working with the best talent for all positions in senior management across all of Grapevine's Life Science, Diagnostics, Medical Device and Pharma business.

Omo specializes in Drug Design/Drug Discovery, Microarrays (DNA, RNA) & PCR technologies, Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies, Molecular and Clinical Diagnostics, Oncology Assays, RUO/IUO/IVD/CE IVD Assays and IVD Products.

After receiving his MS & PhD in Chemistry, he spent his career in labs, scientific software for pharmaceutical, biotech and material science research, then moved into Global Marketing for Clinical Diagnostics, Microarrays and Molecular Diagnostics industries.


Dean Klovens, Senior Recruiter

Senior recruiter experienced in sourcing/candidate development/managing full-cycle recruiting. Dean identifies candidates for retained search and corporations. Klovens is an experienced search professional having participated in domestic and international search assignments using research, candidate sourcing and development, warm/cold calling, market intelligence, and network referrals. Dean's background focuses in a variety of spaces such as Engineering, Human Resources, and Operations within the Manufacturing and the Intelligence sectors, to name a few.


Sergei Ph.D

Life Science & Research Specialist

15+ years in Life Science and Diagnostics marketing experience.

As a Scientist and Project Leader Sergei brings a world of knowledge in the life science industry to Grapevine. He is responsible for senior management positions across all of Grapevine's Life Science, Diagnostics, R&D and Pharma business.

He is a person who knows the pharma analytical customer and is aware of challenges of bio therapeutic protein characterization. He has developed products targeting Bioprocessing and has worked with people around the global. His connections are immeasurable in the life science and analytical arena.

After receiving his MS & PhD in Biochemistry and BS Molecular Biology, he was a scientist for 8 years, then advanced into Product Development and R&D Project Management.

Amanda Wolf, Business Manager

Amanda has been an instrumental part of Grapevine. She keeps our team current of our client information by constant research and tradeshow visits. She stays abreast with current industry trends and maintains in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of relevant companies and competitive intelligence. She is outstanding at sourcing top talent which also involves candidate screening, interviewing, and reference checks.

Given her longevity with Grapevine, Amanda is able to pull from her long-standing relationships with key clients and candidates to assist the Grapevine team in developing strong candidate pipelines and creating fast, yet effective, candidate presentations.
